For the past 18 months or so I have been working with the Kentucky Humanities Council and the Smithsonian on their "Between Fences" exhibit. I am the State Scholar for Kentucky and am working with 6 museums that are getting this exhibit. We are getting ready to open at museum #5 and then there will be one which will finish up this summer. I have really enjoyed the experience of working with museums throughout KY. I moved here 7 years ago from San Francisco where I had worked at the SF Museum of… Continue

What is that object worth to you?
This is a question that a lot of people in the museum community seem to ask. How much is a museum object worth, for the insurance paperwork? How much would it take to keep it secure, and stable? And if it is offered to any given museum, the staff might ask, 'How badly do we want it, and what are we willing to give to get it?' Some will disagree. There are people that will say they always think of how it fits their museum's mission, or whether they can af… Continue

Recently I am always at our school library, reading and researching topics about my thesis related facts. My thesis is all about legendary people in the world of sport. Then suddenly, this article caught my attention. It is about a baseball player, it is said that last June 8th, 2009, is the 17th anniversary of one of the most legendary players in baseball, Satchel Paige.
Satchel Paige was born between 1905 and 1907, and was among the greatest of greats of pitchers. He played mostly for the Neg… Continue

Hello Museum Community!
I am so glad to be here. What a great site. I am passionate about art and teaching, so I love to meet others with the same interests. I have a B.A. and M.A. Art History/Museum Education and have spend the past several years as an adjunct professor while raising small children. It's been wonderful, however, they are growing up and I am ready to get back to the museum or the university or both! Thanks for taking the time to stop by my page.

My life has completely changed since leaving my position of Director at Horsham Regional Art Gallery. There I enjoyed working within a very creative and supportive community. As well as overseeing all operations at the gallery, I loved being part of the Art is... festival committee, and the quietly behind-the-scenes Horsham Regional Arts Association. Most of all I loved curating the occasional exhibition, and working with artists to ensure we supported their work to the best of our… Continue

We have just created a ning network for portuguese and spanish speakers interested in museums (students, researchers and professionals). We are organizing a PhD seminar for October 2009 and this network is a helpful supporting device to "spread the news" and create a "sharing" professional and research comunity. Do join us at http://museologiaporto.ning.com/ (if you do not speak portuguese or spanish you are very welcome all the same!).

Just came back from London attending the annual event 'Asian Art in London'. It was good to see many old clients and meet new people. Although many people were there at different cocktail openings, the market was quiet because of the current downfall of the economy. Victoria & Albert Museum also had a cocktail reception on Nov 4 and it was quite a big turn up. It was a fun night! Continue

This catalogue I am working on is now almost all ready to go to press. The client was in Hong Kong for two short trips to work with me. Although I had to spend the whole day with him while he was here, we were able to get most of the work done. So the whole thing only takes 4 weeks from the time he started writing while I started designing the cover and some sample pages to finally printed. Not bad for a 100 page hand bound catalog with a fold out. Continue
